I’m still getting used to all these new rookies, so forgive me for being surprised to find out that De’Andre Hunter was actually drafted higher than Cam Reddish. Wasn’t there, like, a ton of hype for Reddish during college/high-school? I swear there was a ton of hype for him, meanwhile, I can’t recall much hype for Hunter. I mean, it was probably there; the amount of hype that a non-NBA player needs to get before I notice is really high. But it wasn’t as high as Reddish. Right? I don’t know why I’m typing out this whole paragraph just let you know that when it comes to players who aren’t actually in the NBA yet, I’m a total ignoramus.
Well, it looks like the Hawks made the right choice of who to draft with their 4th overall selection, because Hunter dropped a nice 14 points in his NBA debut while Reddish had 1. This one-game sample size is enough for me to declare that Hunter is a future all-star while Reddish is a future all-bust. Yeah, we’re already going there, I haven’t been calling busts enough. I think I only did it a few times all of last season, and I’m getting antsy.
Darius Garland is also a bust.
Also, I hope you all will forgive me when (not if) I misplace the apostrophe in his first name. I’m so used to DeAndre’ Bembry’s ridiculous apostrophe placement that I will sure make the mistake many times before I finally get it through my punctuationally-challenged mind that it goes in the middle like it normally would.
