Davis Bertans 21 Points/6 Threes Full Highlights (10/30/2019)

When I see a ridiculous final score like 159-158 (in regulation, no less), I’m definitely gonna be disappointed when I open up the box score and see that Davis Bertans had only 21 points. If he wasn’t bombing endless threes on his way to 40, then who even was doing the scoring? Bradley Beal didn’t even have 50 either, so someone better check the math on that final score. I’m suspicious.

The fun storyline (from before it started, otherwise the storyline is “look how many god-damn points these teams scored”) of this game was that while it was going on, the baseball teams from each respective city were busy playing in game seven of the World Series. I’m not going to spoil the outcome in case somehow you’re reading this, weren’t watching the game, but still care about how it turned out. Also, I’m not going to spoil the outcome because I can’t remember it even though I looked it up like half an hour ago. One of the teams won, that’s all I know. And they scored points while doing it.

But whatever amount of points those MLB teams scored is frickin’ absolutely PATHETIC compared to the scoring on display in this game. It’s like both teams realized that no one would really be watching this game because of the World Series, so they decided to put on a show for the faithful that stuck around. No defense. All offense. I have literally never seen so many points in a regulation game, and the only other one with more that I can recall is that Bulls/Hawks quad-overtime game from last season. I don’t watch games after they’re over usually, but I might make an exception for this one.

Now imagine how many points the Wizards’ would have had if they had just fed Bertans the ball more. He was really efficient, missing only a few threes, so it seems like a big oversight that he didn’t get more shot attempts. Did they even want to win the game, or are they tanking already?
