OG Anunoby 18 Points/5 Assists Full Highlights (11/6/2019)

Raptors fans love infesting every corner of the internet with their rabid homerism. It’s just what they do. US government efforts to create a separate “Canadanet” which would quarantine all Canadians onto their own private internet have thus far proven unsuccessful, sadly. I don’t know for sure really, but I assume they’ve been at least working on it. I’ve sent proposals for it directly to three sitting US presidents and just because they didn’t respond doesn’t mean they weren’t moving forward with my plans.

One of the things that Canadians latched onto a few years ago and then spammed everywhere was OG Anunoby’s assist-to-turnover ratio. This was at the beginning of his rookie season, when there were still major questions about the contender-ness of their team and Kawhi Leonard wasn’t even a consideration yet. It’s not like he was even getting that many assists, not nearly enough to warrant the attention this stat was getting. It’s just that he literally wasn’t turning the ball over at all. For some reason that factoid has always stuck with me, even as it became clear that Anunoby is only a opportunistic playmaker at best. Having a low turnover rate for someone with his offensive profile isn’t too impressive, though it’s obviously better than turning it over all the time for no reason.

I’m bringing this up because Anunoby had 5 assists in this game with no turnovers. Those dang Canadians were right to spam so much! Add in 18 points (which is a lot of points for him) and 3 somewhat disappointing blocks (not even a single one worthy of a “geeeht that gahbidj outta heah!”), and I’m finding it hard to figure out if Kawhi Leonard left at all. He certainly wasn’t present in LA tonight, god damn it you coward, show your face so Giannis can kick your ass on national TV.
