The life of a highlight maker is fraught with difficulty. Tough decisions await you at every turn. The latest tough decision I faced: should I make a George Hill video, a Brook Lopez video, both, or neither?
For reference, here are their statlines (irrelevant statistical categories excluded):
George Hill: 18 points, 5-of-9 shooting, 4-of-4 shooting
Brook Lopez: 19 points, 5 blocks, 5-of-11 shooting, 8-of-9 free throws
At first glance, Lopez’ statline looks better. And it is better. But Hill’s statline is way easier to deal with from a highlights perspective. Free throws are the bane of my existence, in case you hadn’t realized. So I made this video with the full intent of just ignoring Lopez’s superior performance.
But now I’ve put the statlines side-by-side and my resolve is wavering. Lopez really did have a good game even if he was bricking all this threes. All Hill did was hit some shots, and he even statpadded at the end by hitting a three with ten seconds left.
I asked my little kitty Japurri Purrker, who is sort of a magic eight ball of highlight-making decisions, about this quandary, and he meowed a meow of recommendation at me. He’s a good little furry oracle, but sometimes he creates more work for me than is strictly necessary.
