The Bulls have been struggling a bit, so why not do what every struggling team does once or a dozen times during the season: shake up the starting lineup with people you just recalled from the G-League! Shove Shaquille Harrison in there with Tomas Satoransky and Zach LaVine to form some sort of positionless 6-7 PG trio along with Lauri Markkanen and Wendell Carter, what could go wrong?
I’m guessing that the only reason that wonky starting lineup worked and allowed the Bulls to win easily was because they were playing the Pistons, who are so discombobulated right now that recombobulation is nothing but a fever dream. Playing bad teams allows one to do drastic things with lineups and still have them work, although the chance of success is a lot lower when you yourself are a bad team (like the Bulls).
Harrison paid off the sudden confidence placed in him by the coaches, scoring 15 points and notching assists 3 through 7 of his season. Oh, and he grabbed 11 rebounds, because one of those 6-7 PGs was going to have to grab some. From the videos of him I’ve made in the past, I don’t recall him being able to hit jumpers like this, so either it’s a fluke or he’s been working on his shot over the summer. Maybe he should keep working on it; it looks flat as heck, unless he’s trying to squeeze in a midrange turnaround banker over Christian Wood as the shot clock runs down.
