At this year’s Thanksgiving dinner, my extended family were going around the table saying what they were most thankful for this year. It’s a yearly tradition, and it sucks (just like everything about Thanksgiving besides the pie), but I go along with it. When it was my turn, I said “I’m thankful that I don’t have to deal with Luka Doncic anymore”. This got me a few odd looks (my entire extended family is a bunch of normies, and not the kind of normie that would’ve heard of Luka Doncic), but no one questioned me.
And it’s true: I estimate I would’ve wasted approximately 100 hours this season alone if I was forced to make videos for all of Doncic’s nutso triple-doubles. But instead of all those hours wasted, I get to spend them making vids for all the Mavericks’ role-players except for Porzingis (yeah, he’s a role-player now, deal with it). Including Tim Hardaway Jr.! He was gone from my channel for a while when he was chucking up a storm with the Knicks, and he’s back now, and that fact barely excites me at all.
I don’t know what it is, but I just can’t get hyped for Hardaway. I’ve tried so many times, and I just can’t. His whole career, I’ve been entirely indifferent to his existence. I think the average NBA fan has for the most part matched my indifference, and for sure Mavericks fans are right now. If you glance in the direction of the Mavericks, everyone except for Porzingis and Hardaway disappears entirely in the intense sun-like glow emanating from Doncic.
