There are some serious cracks showing in the once-perfect facade of the Spurs organization. Years and years of playoff appearances and championships and MVPs and Tim Duncans seem to be finally coming to an end. Losses in an amount not seen since that one tanking year that got them Duncan in the first place are piling up. There are still some “star” players, but besides them, the talent cupboard is looking a little bare.
Or… is it?
Of course, I’m talking about Lonnie Walker here. I could’ve been talking about Dejounte Murray, but since this is a Lonnie Walker highlight video, that’s who I mean when implying that the Spurs still have some young promising talent left in reserve.
At this point, I figure the Poopovich and the Spurms must be tanking, because why else would Walker (who at least has a theoretical chance of being the future of the franchise) not be playing except for tiny stretches as well as in garbage time? I don’t see the point in playing him 2 minutes a game, what’s that going to do for him? By the time he works up a sweat he’s out of the game.
I guess playing Walker major minutes could be considered tanking as well, because he’s unlikely to be much of a winning player at this point. So either playing him or not playing him, both are a form of tanking. The only way to NOT tank is to trade him to the Bucks for Dragan Bender. Everyone wins! Bucks get a developable young stud, and the Spurs get a Euro with “skills” who Popovich can then play 35 minutes a game.
