It’s not fair. Marcus Morris pretty much has his own team where he can do whatever he wants (well, he and Julius Randle share “do whatever you want” duties), while Markieff Morris has to come off the bench and be marginalized by “superior” talent. His stats aren’t the worst thing I’ve ever seen, for some reason I thought he was doing worse than he actually is (probably the lack of 20-burgers had something to do with it, this is only his second one). But there’s no doubt he can be a semi-potent scoring force in the league, and the Pistons just don’t want to utilize him to his maximum.
Marcus got lucky in that sense; the Knicks might be the only team in the league willing to let him have the role he currently has. If Markieff wants that same kind of role, he’ll either have to maneuver his way to the Knicks (which would be tough, they have enough power forwards to last for the rest of James Dolan’s life), or go to China. I suggest the China route for basically every player who I feel could be scoring more and might be dissatisfied with their current role, so I’m sorry for repeating myself, but I only do so because it’s a REALLY good idea. Jimmer Fredette can attest to the goodness of the idea. So can Russ Smith. And C.J. McCollum’s worse brother.
Morris is basically the perfect fit for China because they don’t really care if you’re a hyper-aggresive headcase who secretly yearns to beat up fans. Remember J.R. Smith and his sister brawling with fans over there? That could be Morris doing the brawling. And when he’s done beating down fools, he can go play a game and average 40 and 15. This is sounding better and better by the minute.
