Alec Burks 27 Points/5 Assists Full Highlights (1/4/2020)

I put off making this video as long as possible, but I could put it off no longer. On the surface, Alec Burks scoring 27 points is an eminently highlight-worthy performance that should be compiled as soon as possible. But lurking just below the surface is a fact that is currently causing me great anguish: he only made 5 shots.

For reference, this ties the most amount of points this season while making 5 or fewer shots. Joel Embiid also did it. It’s only 6 points off the record, which is Jerry Stackhouse with 33.

From a pure basketball standpoint, this is fine; 2 points is 2 points (unless you’re LeBron James), whether they came from a bucket or from a couple of free throws. But we are not looking at things from a pure basketball standpoints. We are looking at things from an entertainment standpoint, and watching some dude tromp to the line 14 times is NOT what I call entertainment. It’s what I call STUPID, and LAME.

Not to mention that editing free throws takes way more time than editing buckets. I spent way too much time making this vid, and, relatedly, you’re about to spend way too much time watching this vid. This sucker is three minutes long. I would recommend just not watching it and doing something better with your time, like staring at a wall while trying to remember what it’s like to be happy, which is what I’m doing right now.
