It seems like every team, even the bad ones like the Hornets, is making some kind of social media push to get players from that team to the All-Star game. The time-honored tradition of trying to rally the fans in support of any and all potential All-Stars is usually more pathetic than anything else, and it just occurred to me: are the Warriors making such a push?
I’m too lazy to check. But if they are, the only player they could feasibly promote as an All-Star candidate is Alec Burks. That’s how you know the Warriors are in rough shape: their most All-Star-worthy player is a guy who is averaging 16 PPG per game on 41% shooting and is relentlessly tormenting me with high-scoring games that feature way too many free throws. Even teams like the Hornets (Devonte’ Graham) and the Hawks (Trae Young) and the Kings (Buddy Hield) have players who, if they were selected as All-Stars, nobody would bat an eye at. Actually, a lot of people would bat eyes. But they would all be better than the worst All-Star of all time, Jamaal Magloire.
Keep in mind that, in this discussion, I am assuming that D’Angelo Russell is getting traded to the Timberwolves within the next 48 hours. Since the Warriors’ social media team would have been clued in to this possibility, they would not waste their efforts hyping up Russell for an All-Star selection even though he is the most suited for such a selection. They would hype up Alec Burks and Draymond Green instead. Remember, this is all in my head because I am too lazy to actually investigate the Warriors’ social media accounts to see what they’re actually posting in real life.
