Michael Porter Jr. 17 Points Full Highlights (1/26/2020)

Michael Porter Jr. has now scored in double digits in seven straight games. It’s clear that he’s going to be a core piece of the Nuggets going forward. Not only that, but fellow forward Jerami Grant has also been balling out lately. There’s a lot of reasons to be getting excited for this iteration of the Nuggets, but there’s a dark cloud hanging over the proceedings casting a pallorous shadow, and if you’ve been reading my video descriptions for the past few seasons you’ll know what I’m talking about.

That’s right. Paul Millsap. The guy who’s ruining the Nuggets.

Millsap has a “knee contusion” right now and isn’t coming back any time soon. With him sitting on the bench in a suit (or even better, sitting at home in a knee brace while crying), his ability to directly ruin the Nuggets is mostly negated. But his eventual return is obviously weighing on everybody’s minds, because when he comes back, minutes will have to be taken from two young players who deserve them (MPJ and Grant) in order to give those minutes to an old overpaid guy who has ruined the team with his overpaidness.

MPJ and Grant, or their agents, should be lobbying the front office hard for a Millsap trade. That seems counter-intuitive when you think of the Nuggets as quasi championship-contenders, since they should be looking to stack the team with talent to compete in the playoffs rather than giving that talent away, but remember: Millsap is ruining the Nuggets. MPJ’s development, which is proceeding at an exciting pace right now, will be ruined by Millsap’s return. And if you decide to slap Millsap with an eternal DNP-CD, he’ll ruin the team by being a serene and steady vet who doesn’t complain about anything and loves mentoring the younger players.
