Attention Marcus Smart: only good three-point shooters are allowed to do the “shoot a corner three and turn around and stare at the opposing bench before it even goes in” move. Not average ones like yourself. Please don’t ever do it again.
It worked out this time, luckily for him. What if he had missed? We all still remember Nick Young’s premature three-point celebration while he was with the Lakers, and that guy is out of the league now. I’m not saying that he’s out of the league because of that incident, but it’s something to think about. That could’ve been Smart’s eventual fate had his three rimmed out.
I get that he wanted to rub it into the Warriors’ faces after years of humiliation. The desire for petty revenge is one of the very strongest human tendencies. If there was a camera on Stephen Curry after Smart executed his own move (I don’t have any evidence that Curry did it against the Celtics but he probably did), there would probably be some tears, his composure shattered by Smart’s brutal staredown. So I get it. But still: that’s not something Smart should be doing. He’s got to be classier than that.
