Just like Alec Burks had a showcase game by scoring thirty points against a non-defense-playing ‘Zards squad, Glenn Robinson III (GRIII [“greeeeeee”]) also had a showcase game against that same ‘Zards squad, dropping 22 points and 7 assists. All around the league, GM’s are refreshing the DownToBuck YouTube channel so they can see the highlights for themselves and then, convinced as they will be of GRIII’s ability to bolster any bench in the league with his shooting, get on the phone with the Warriors to make a trade.
But this performance is tainted by the misattribution of a field goal seen at the 0:53 mark of this video. This field goal was attributed to GRIII in the box-score, but it’s clearly Marquese Chriss making the shot. Will this ever be corrected or will GRIII forever be mired in dishonesty by claiming to have scored points that were never his? The ramifications of this are troubling given that GRIII is supposedly on the trading block, since those two extra points could mean the difference between a team sending a lottery-protected first and a team sending a 2050 top-60 protected second-round pick and a bucket of cold baked beans.
Are Warriors team agents planted among the scorekeepers to subtly raise the trade value of the few players on their roster that are of interest to other teams? I don’t want to sound like a conspiracy nut over here, but it’s either that or the scorekeepers had all died from the coronavirus and their spastic death-twitches accidentally caused them to hit the “Glenn Robinson III” button instead of the “Marquese Chriss” button.
