It is indicative of the level of trauma that I have endured at the hands of the Suns commentators that I still cringe whenever one of their players makes a three, bracing myself for the “Proud to own the three-point zone, Fulton Homes donates one-hundred dollars to Suns charities.” that used to be omnipresent. Even if those words aren’t ever said anymore (Fulton Homes must have gotten tired of being so charitable), I can still hear them clearly, and they still involuntarily resound in my ears when someone like Mikal Bridges splashes from deep.
Post-traumatic Stress Disorder is a real thing and I don’t want to minimize it, but I think this qualifies.
But this video isn’t about me and my hallucinations regarding Fulton Homes and their cursed three-point zone. This video is free of such utterances, and is simply a pure display of Bridges’ scoring prowess. This video is about Bridges being one of the least notable players in the entire NBA, one that was a top-10 pick but is utterly forgotten by everyone except for the more dedicated portion of the Suns fanbase.
Okay, maybe it’s not really about that second part. But it’s totally true. When was the last time you saw a national media outlet reference Bridges at all? This channel doesn’t count; while it is technically a “national media outlet”, I have a commitment to heralding the unheralded that the others simply do not.
