I would officially like to apologize for not making a vid when Rudy Gay scored 22 points back in November. I know I’ve apologized for this before, but those apologies weren’t official. This one is. It’s an OFFICIAL DTB APOLOGY. It’s no excuse, but I ran out of time that day and couldn’t get to it. I have lived with the regret ever since.
This isn’t 22 points, but if you want, you can replay one of the threes that Gay hit and pretend that it is. Most threes look the same anyway, does it really matter? This is something I’ve been thinking about for a while, and I think that for this year’s James Harden three-ilation I’m just going to replay the first three he made this season 400-plus times instead of having to waste all that time getting clips for the shots he actually made. All he does is stepbacks anyway, no one would even notice, especially not the casuals who would watch such a video.
Gay hasn’t been scoring the ball nearly as well as he did last year. Last year, 19 points would hardly even be notable, but this year, it’s his second-highest point total. Age might finally be catching up to him; he’s 33, and those arms have put up a LOT of shots. His chances of hitting 20,000 career points were already low, but if he doesn’t bounce back next year, they will practically be nonexistent.
Which is a shame. You know how wild it would be for a guy like Gay to score 20,000? He’s just a guy.
