Jerome Robinson 14 Points/5 Assists Full Highlights (3/6/2020)

By the time that Jerome “Biggest Draft Reach Ever” Robinson’s stint on the Clippers came to an end, Clippers fans were just totally done with him. Totally done. Robinson had an okay, but not great, rookie season, but he played very limited minutes and it was hard to tell if he would do better in a larger role. Then he got a larger (but still small) role this season and stepped up to the challenge by shooting 34% from the field and 29% from three. If there were Clippers fans who were optimistic about Robinson (I don’t think there were), their optimism was quickly snuffed out by his routinely subpar play.

At the trade deadline, Robinson got traded to the ‘Zards in the three-team trade headlined by Marcus Morris. The ‘Zards were really just desperate to be rid of Isaiah Thomas, I guess, because the only thing they got back in that trade was this guy who had been playing poorly for the Clippers. No surprise, he’s still playing poorly for the ‘Zards. Not as bad as he was with the ‘Ppers, but not well enough that he would see any time on a properly-constructed roster.

The plus side is, I bet this guy isn’t as infuriating to watch as Isaiah Thomas allegedly was this season. So that’s something. Not every trade has to involve getting good players in return for whatever you ship away. You just have to make marginal improvements. If you keep doing that, making patient transactions over the course of years, eventually your Isaiah Thomas will turn into LeBron James.
