Undrafted rookie Jae’Sean Tate made a name for himself early in his basketball career, not by performing particularly well or for having an insane vertical leap, but for throwing a basketball at a notable teammate of his who had moobs and a beard and really, really wanted to be traded really bad.
Getting into a “heated exchange” with a superstar like James Harden either shows that Tate is a man of principle who makes his voice heard when something isn’t right, or he’s just a hothead who couldn’t contain himself when he perceived Harden committing a minor transgression against him. I’m going with the first option since this is a Jae’Sean Tate highlight video, after all. Besides, we all know that Harden with being bitcho numero uno while he was still stuck in Houston, and that his teammates weren’t pleased with his attitude, so it’s significantly more likely that Tate was in the right on this one.
Throwing basketballs, though? First off, Harden’s not going to feel a basketball hitting his body. He’s too soft and squishy. In these situations you’ve gotta throw hands. Sure, a rookie throwing hands with a teammate is a guaranteed way to cut short your NBA journey and have to continue your career in Taiwan, but your name would live in infamy. More infamy than you get simply by throwing a basketball.
Anyway, Tate had a good game here, showing that he’s not only capable of throwing basketballs at human beings, but he’s capable of throwing basketballs into the hoop either from long distance or short distance. What undrafted players are even doing better than him right now? Is there a way to look this up? I pay for Stathead but I don’t even know. All Stathead is telling me is that Tate leads all rookies in total win shares. OH WAIT THAT MEANS HE’S A BEAST
