This video is a sight for sore Wizard fan eyes. And, believe me, those eyes are very, very sore. The eyes of Wizards fans have not seen many good things out of their team this season. They have mostly seen bad things. And among those bad things has been Davis Bertans’ regressed three-point shooting. If I were them, I would have ripped my eyeballs out of their sockets a long time ago, leaving bundles of retinal nerves dangling precariously onto my cheeks, sputtering with failed neural signals.
Last season, Bertans had 16 games in which he made five or more three-pointers. This season? Just three, and two of those games are this game and the game before it. When you’ve got a sharpshooting big man shooting 33% on three-pointers when he’s also at the beginning of a five-year contract which will pay him eighteen million dollars in year five, you start getting anxious. Bertans’ hot shooting the past two games has brought him up to a respectable 38% on threes this season, but we need more games like this before we can safely proclaim that the old Bertans is back and the new Bertans is lying dead in a gutter somewhere.
Not only have Wizards fans been suffering from Bertans’ lack of on-court success, but I’ve been suffering as well, and I am arguably more important as an individual than Wizards fans are a millions-strong collective. Bertans has been a major driver of hits to my channel for the past few seasons as every Latvian citizen eagerly consumes any and all media related to him. But if Bertans is not going to give me highlight-worthy performances, I have no other way of representing him on my channel. Tell me, how are Latvians going to be reminded about the existence of my Patreon if they aren’t even watching videos of Bertans splashing triples?
I would also like to remind Latvians that if they do decide to donate to my Patreon, I would like that donation to be in real American dollars, and not fake Latvian potato-dollars. Here in Wisconsin, none of the stores accept Latvian currency. I have tried.
