OFFICIAL DTB REVENGE GAME ALERT: This instance of Reggie Jackson scoring 29 points against his former team, the Detroit Pistons, was an absolute undisputed REVENGE GAME, and it was made even more vengeful by the fact that Jackson hit the game-winning shot to cap off a semi-miraculous Clippers comeback.

Sure, it would perhaps have been preferable for Jackson to run more time off the clock before taking his shot, but what’s done is done, and what was done was a game-winning middy jimbo. The Pistons had 2.4 seconds to advance the ball and take a shot after Jackson’s REVENGE GAME-WINNER, and they managed to do that successfully, but Killian Hayes was not able to convert a relatively clean look at a three-pointer. It all worked out in the end and Jackson was the hero, not just the guy who made a clutch but ill-timed shot which opened the door for an even clutcher shot from his opponent.

Jackson wasn’t particularly mistreated while he was in Detroit, so I’m not sure where his urge to enact REVENGE is coming from. Maybe some things went on behind the scenes that we don’t know about, like Dwane Casey calling him a “moldy turnip” after an unusually unproductive film session, or Tom Gores failing to disclose his cocaine dealer to Jackson even though Jackson wanted a hook-up. Whatever the case may be, Jackson was out for REVENGE in this game and he got it, not only in the points he scored, but in stealing the victory right out from underneath the Pistons’ collective nose. If he had any goodwill in Detroit (I’m not sure he did, given that the Pistons squads he led were always painfully mediocre), he certainly doesn’t have any after this game.
