Did last year’s Thunder team even really exist? It feels so weird to me that there was this random transitional period that occurred after Russell Westbrook left but before the Thunder fully embraced the tank. Like, if they had just tried to keep all those pieces in place, maybe they could’ve been something other than a first round exit? Right? They had Chris Paul. Chris Paul! How did they end up with him, and what were the circumstances around his departure. It’s all so vague and hazy.

This iteration of the Thunder is a lot more memorable. Middling playoff teams like they had last year are a regular occurrence. True, hardcore, deepthroat suckage is a lot rarer. They’re basically like a college team with how young they are, and they REALLY suck. They were kind of holding it together (not really, but kind of) with Shai Gilgeous-Alexander around, but now? They just keep getting boomed. They lost by 20 this game, and the ‘Zards aren’t even good. Remember when they lost by like 50 to the Trailblazers? That’s the kind of thing that ESPN is going to make a 30 for 30 about for sure.

And all the players on this time are so fun! Who even wants a stodgy, boring Chris Paul when you could have Kenrich Williams (okay, bad example), Moses Brown, and Isaiah Roby! I hope Thunder fans are realizing the special-ness of what they’re getting to watch right now. They might not have superstars, but they have dudes that if you squint your eyes hard enough, could be superstars in the future.

18 points for Roby, that’s totally an amount a superstar could hypothetically score. Yeah? Yeah! It totally is.
