There was a period of time, a few years ago, where DownToBuck was a noted critique of other highlight-makers’ uploads. I even had a separate channel called “DownToBuck’s Highlight Reviews” where I sat in my car and reviewed vids from highlight luminaries like DawkIns, Stylish80, GDFactoryClips, and dorell15. Never HouseOfHighlights, though. Those corporate stooges didn’t deserve my cutting commentary and helpful criticism.
That channel went away a while ago; something about copyright or whatever. It wasn’t my most popular venture, to be sure, so I wasn’t too sad when it came to an end. But one of the repeated criticisms I had of my peers’ work was that they would show way too many worthless replays.
Like, come on DawkIns, no one on earth needed to see a replay of that lame-ass assist. It was a waste of time, and it was so SLOW. It was like 15 seconds of replay of not even that good of a play. And did we really need 3 separate angles of that dude dunking it without any extraordinary ferocity? There’s a thing called “pace” in the NBA, but there’s also a thing called “pace” in NBA highlight videos, and you have to have a nice pace or you’re gonna end up with people falling asleep and drooling all over their keyboards.
This is all a roundabout way of apologizing for the sheer amount of replays this video of Onyeka Okongwu has. There’s, like, a replay for pretty much every shot he made. Plus some replays of his blocks. I think there’s one bucket where there wasn’t a replay, and that’s only because he scored another bucket right after.
But I’m not apologizing too hard. After all, this is my first Okongwu vid this season, and it’s also the last, so it’s gotta be good. It’s gotta be the MAX Okongwu experience possible, and I think I delivered. If DawkIns or Stylish80 (if he showed up now that would be a total trip because his YouTube channel got deleted like a literal decade ago) wants to make a critique vid about how bad these highlights are, that’s fine. They’re welcome to their opinion, just as am I to mine.
Except my opinions are really more like facts.
