The scrub collection that OKC put on the floor last night somehow took the mostly-intact Spurs to overtime, largely thanks to the combined efforts of Cameron Payne and Steven Adams. Enes Kanter and Dion Waiters tried their best, but ultimately, the loss can be put on them. Adams did a good job, showing that big names like Tim Duncan and Boban Marjanovic don’t faze him in the paint.
This also might be the first time I am afforded an opportunity to bust out the “Steven Adams Jumper Alert”. Why now, you ask? Because Steven Adams made a jumper. A real jumper, not a push-shot from five feet inside the free throw line. He was fading baseline too. Maybe I’m getting a little carried away, but I feel like Adams has some offensive talents that we don’t get to see fully unleashed on this Thunder team. It’s Kanter’s job to be the scoring big. It’s Adams’ job to be the garbage-man enforcer type. Perhaps one day Adams will be unleashed. Maybe it will be after Durant bolts for Golden State. Who knows.
