Ben McLemore hype has officially dwindled down to nearly zero. Coach Karl apparently liked him enough to start him but not enough to give him enough minutes. Or did Karl like him just fine and the reason McLemore didn’t get as much playing time this year was because he was stinking it up? Either way, the amount of people who sincerely believe that McLemore is the next Ray Allen is certainly down to just one: his own mother. I never really believed that narrative, but if I ever did, I definitely don’t now. More like the next Boobie Gibson if you ask me. Boobie Gibson + dunks = Benny Mac.
If the Kings were feeling nice they would trade McLemore somewhere that’s not Sacramento. But that would be giving up on yet another high draft choice (Jimmer, Stauskas…) and that’s not a good look for a team who’s been attempting to rebuild through the draft for roughly a decade. Maybe they should clean out the entire front office again. That will fix it.
