We have a whole new NBA season, full of new ugly faces on new teams, new ugly jerseys and new ugly logos to make fun of, and a new ugly NBA website that blows donkey dong. And yet, as much as things may seem different, there are certain clues that indicate otherwise.
First example: this video is going to struggle to hit 1000 views because people STILL don’t care about Brook Lopez because he STILL is the centerpiece of a totally forgettable Nets squad and STILL has a not very aesthetic style of play. I know the trends of which players are popular at a given time; Blopez has always been ignored in favor of basically any other player on any other team.
It really is a shame. He’s going to end up spending his whole prime putting up 20 points per game and when he’s done, no one will remember that it even happened. DownToBuck will remember, sure. But when I, 10 years from now, try to tell people about him, they will stare at me with disbelieving eyes.
That was the fate of Adrian Dantley, and so too will it be the fate of Brook Lopez.
