Rashad Vaughn Career High 22 Points/6 Threes Full Highlights (10/29/2016)

I’m going to be a homer for a little bit. Usually when a player really sucks in their rookie year I mock them relentlessly and secretly plan on them never getting better. This is in defiance of the old adage: “NBA rookies always suck no matter how good they will be later in their careers”. I hate that adage. It always proves me wrong. Whoever made it up should retract it.

Anyway, back to me being a homer. I wanted Rashad Vaughn to succeed despite his horrible rookie campaign. That’s because I’m still nominally a Bucks fan so I want Bucks players to do well in general (unless they’re Gary Neal). I liked the idea of Vaughn being a deadeye jumpshooter with a silky, high-arcing release. And when some people were ready to give up on him totally in order to award a roster spot to God-knows-who, I was still in the camp that he could maybe be good in the future, even if it wasn’t this year or the year after that.

Guess what bitches? He had one good game, which officially makes him a good player. He can average three points per game on twenty percent shooting for the rest of his life (that’s pretty much what he averaged as a rookie), but this box-score has been officially inscribed into the sacred stone tablets of the NBA archives, and nothing short of nuclear apocalypse can scrub it out of the historical record.
