In a description near the end of last year I wrote these words on the subject of Otto Porter:
“Otto Porter has all the tools to score thirty points in a game and thus grant me a prime opportunity to make a compelling highlight video. However, he has yet to do so in the NBA. Why is that? His jumper is wetter than peeing in a puddle, but he never attempts enough shots to score truly impressive amounts of points. He also plays with John Wall which should make it easy to score points.”
We still don’t know why he didn’t score thirty or more points before tonight. But we know why he scored thirty-four tonight: he was SICK and TIRED of the Wizards LOSING all the DAMN time. “Give me the ball, John. Just give it to me. I’m tired of seeing your bum-ass take all those crappy-ass jumpers. Look at me. Look at me. I’m the captain now.” That’s what Otto said. I heard it, and if you listen really close during this video you can probably hear it as well.
If scoring way more points that he ever had previously wasn’t enough, he also pulled down 14 boards, dished 4 dimes, and had 3 each of steals and blocks. So that’s almost a 5×5 also, no big deal.
