The Lakers are the perfect team for a young wing looking for some pressure-free minutes. Pressure-free except for Kobe sitting on the bench silently judging every move, plus the bonus extra judgment he reserves for people who share his initials. But other than that, it’s smooth sailing. No expectations of winning or anything, and D’Antoni doesn’t demand good shot selection.
So Bazemore fits right in. He didn’t get to do much of anything with the Warriors except for the brief stretch where they made him a point guard (????). But now in his first two games as a Laker he’s had consecutive career-high scoring performances. AND he got to start tonight. Good deal.
I’m not super optimistic on him keeping it up past this year though. Remember Andrew Goudelock?
