Sometimes I yearn for the old days. The days when Jordan Crawford had his own crappy team where he got to swag it up and do all the crazy stuff he wanted, pretending he was Kobe. His more recent role of coming off the bench for a scoring punch isn’t as fun.
The NBA isn’t about fun. It’s about winning games. And, let’s face it, any team with him as the focal point isn’t gonna be winning a whole ton of games. This bench role minimizes the damage he can do.
He still is as capable as ever at putting up shots. All the threes he made tonight were deep. Except the catch and shoot off a screen one. None of them were “good shots”. That is not his game. Who wants to risk having a three become a two? Why not stay two feet back instead? Jordan answered this question with 19 points in not many minutes. Stephen Curry will get all the praise for hitting the game winner, but I think Crawford had the most impressive performance of the night.
