The end of this video contains a shot of Isaiah Thomas in a suit, clapping in support of Ray McCallum. What a good teammate! He thinks not about his own successes, but about the successes of his compatriots and the team as a whole!
At least, that’s what he wants you to think he thinks.
The reality is that those are the angst-ridden actions of a crushed man. He sees the young and spry Ray McCallum acquire new career-high after new career-high while sitting on the bench, injured and impotent. With each reckless drive, with each contested jumper, Isaiah feels the hearts of the Sacramento fans leaving him. He has become a relic of a tragic past, no longer representing the bright and shining future.
And so he claps. What else can a man do, when his world is collapsing around him?
