If you ever wondered what Giannis Antetokounmpo looks like dunking the basketball, well, prepare for enlightenment. Every dunk from his rookie campaign, all 61 of them, is presented here in chronological order. No word in the English language, or any language for that matter, contained within its meaning enough power and elegance to adequately describe what is presented in this video. So I coined a new term: “Dunkilation”. A dunk compilation. You are welcome to use the word for yourself provided you pay the required royalties. Crafting neologisms is hard work.
A lot of these dunk mixes (dunkilations) include crappy hip-hop in the background. In the interest of viewer empowerment, I included no music, crappy or otherwise. I tried to get a good mix of the league’s varied commentators. It’s fun to listen to them rhapsodize about Giannis’ potential and physical attributes. And to listen to them pronounce his name. They get better at that as the video progresses.
Sorry for the editing that makes it look like the first two dunks against the Nets occurred one-after-another. The clock betrays the reality of the situation.
