Back before people were throwing around the term “3-and-D guy” like so much confetti, Thabo Sefolosha was a 3-and-D guy. It made sense to start him; stick him on the other team’s best perimeter player, and tell him to get out of the way on offense so that Westbrook and Durant (usually Westbrook) can do their thing.
Sadly for Thabo, he no longer shoots the three well at all. He is essentially just a “D” guy in the vein of Luc Mbah a Moute. Scott Brooks started him the whole season, but that was more out of pity than anything.
I think it’s time for the Thunder to give Thabo a nice Rolex watch as a gift and say “we need to move on from having two players in you and Perkins who have started for several years despite never scoring any points.” Either that, or re-sign him for 90 bajillion dollars over ten years and then act surprised when his defense falls off a cliff at the age of 32.
