There’s a saying, “you don’t know what you have until it’s gone.” I feel this way about Chris Andersen (AKA Birdbro) and his former mohawk. I used to hate that thing, which I viewed as a ploy for attention much like his tattoos and facial hair. Now, I crave any amount of creativity, however forced, in NBA hairstyles, and that includes Birdbro’s spiky hair artistry.
I have a theory as to why he got rid of it: he’s 35 frickin’ years old. What kind of guy in his mid-thirties still rocks a mohawk like he’s some punk teenager? It would just be pathetic. So, I miss that thing, but I understand why it has to be this way.
But if Kenneth Faried ever cuts off his dreads, I’m quitting the NBA for real. That would be a crime against humanity.
