The transformation in Mike Scott’s game is complete. The former interior scorer is now, almost exclusively, an outside threat. He knows the reality of the NBA: the easiest way to make yourself valuable is to be big, and to be able to shoot threes.
This is especially valuable to the Hawks, who are collecting as many people who can shoot threes as they can. Aside from Elton Brand and maybe Mike Muscala, they’ve got at least marginal three-gunners everywhere. Yes, I’m counting Al Horford. He made some corner threes last year.
Supposedly Atlanta is trying to emulate the Spurs model, forgetting that that particular model is easier to execute when you have three hall-of-famers on your team, rather than just a bunch of middling players and Mike Scott.
