Nothing surprises me anymore. I fully expect Will Barton to become the Nuggets’ main scoring threat to end the season, averaging between 15 and 20 a game. Why the hell not? Who else is gonna score the rock? Ty Lawson is too busy being drunk, and Danilo Gallinari is too busy tearing knee ligaments.
Barton, on the other hand, is fit as a fiddle, is angry after being interred in Portland for so long, and has the chucker’s mentality necessary to score those kind of points. It’s like when Corey Brewer was scoring all those points as a Nugget. Everyone knew he sucked and that it made no sense for him to be scoring so much, but he did it anyway. Brewer is a good analogue for Barton’s skinny spazzed-out play style.
Print out this description, put in an envelope that says “Do not open until 2014-15 NBA regular season is over”, and witness my prophetic powers.
