I guess I’m still a little surprised that Pat Beverley has so utterly made Ty Lawson into his personal bitchslave. The rational part of my mind tells me “Harden does all the ball-handling and he doesn’t play defense, so a defense-first PG is perfect for him” while the other part of my mind says “but Ty Lawson was supposed to be good.” And you can’t deny that aspect of it. Ty Lawson was SUPPOSED to be the starter going into the season. But alcoholism and other factors mean that role-player extraordinaire B-Pat is point guard numero uno in Houston.
The other thing that blows my mind is that B-Pat is shooting above 40% from three this year. There’s a special term for players that specialize in playing defense while also shooting threes. Trevor Ariza is another one, but I can’t remember what they’re called.
Oh well. It’s not important right now I guess. Just know that B-Pat is one of those types of player.
