When I was watching this game I was able to witness Derrick Favors being guarded by LaMarcus Aldridge and vice-versa. That got me thinking: is Derrick Favors not the second coming of LaMarcus Aldridge? Derrick takes a lot more of his shots close to the basket, but he has shown a jumper game that is, as the kids say, “on fleek”. I don’t know what a “fleek” is but Derrick Favors was getting fleeky all over LMA for sure.
It’s unlikely that Favors will ever be as jumper-dependent as prime LMA (if you haven’t noticed, prime LMA is no longer with us), but he could be if he had the proper mindset. “Proper” might not be the correct word to use, but I could definitely see Favors shooting twelve midrange jumpers per game if he felt like it.
