This keeps happening to D.J. Augustin. He gets traded to a team, sucks it up totally for them, gets traded again, and magically becomes good for his new new team. Then that team trades him for some reason, and the process starts over. Confusing? Yes. I’ve lost track of all the teams that he’s been on since his 4 years with the Bobcats.
Augustin is right now in the “magically good” section of the process right now, after being traded to Denver from Oklahoma City. I might be stretching the term a little bit, since he hasn’t been anything amazing for the Nuggets, but it’s been way better so far (check out those DNPs, damn) than what he showed in his last pit stop. He is not in any way the answer for the Nuggets at PG, but he’s a good stopgap while Emmanuel Mudiay figures out how to not turn it over every other time down the court.
