The Wizards have been eliminated from playoff contention. What happened?
The answer is simple, really. Sometimes teams just get worse for no reason. That’s all there is to it. Stuff that worked last year doesn’t work this year, and no one can tell why. Players change their games slightly, chemistry is subtly altered, and what was once a perfect storm leading to a playoff series win turns into a morass of hurt egos and lost games. The Sceptre of Blame casts its damning red glow upon no one but the cruel machinations of fate.
After a slow start with his new team, Markieff Morris did his best to elevate Washington into the playoffs. It was not enough. This disappointing season will surely lead to a series of panicked moves by the FO; Morris might not be long on the Wizards. And that’s okay. The wheels of the NBA are ever-turning.
