Harrison Barnes 18 Points Full Highlights (6/8/2016)

Everyone seems to be in agreement that Harrison Barnes is going to get massively overpaid this offseason. There is no differing opinion on this matter. Every single NBA fan thinks that there are going to be a bunch of teams vying for his services, and that one of those teams is going to make a ludicrous offer that trumps all the other ludicrous offers, and then Barnes will be ludicrously overcompensated for his mediocre production.

Given the unanimity of this opinion, I have to wonder why they’re so certain that there will be a GM who will do this. Everyone agrees that he’s not really all that good. Why would a GM think differently? They watch the same games that we do, and I doubt that any FO would simply say “Well, he was a starter on one of the greatest teams of all time, let’s just give him a ton of money without looking at any stats.”, it’s just not happening. Maybe in the past that would have happened, but we have a thing called “analytics” now. Those analytics aren’t especially damning of him, but they also don’t reveal him to be a player being held down by his superstar teammates.

He is what he is: an athletic dude with a bit of a jumper. He might be able to handle a bigger role, but do you really want him to?
