Rodney Rogers 28 Points Full Highlights (2/27/2000)

Everyone has seen the video of T-Mac scoring 13 points in 35 seconds to pull the Rockets back from certain defeat. It’s like a top-5 component of YouTube-NBA lore. Even that annoying dude in your circle of acquaintances who wears that corny “sportsball” t-shirt and talks about how pro sports are a waste of time to anyone who will listen has probably seen and appreciated the video.

That video sucks.

This video of Rodney Rogers scoring 9 points in 8 (only 8 holy crap) seconds is way better: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dQw4w…

In the end, Rodney’s team ended up losing despite his heroics, which lessens the impact of his insane three-point barrage a bit. But you can’t argue with more points scored than seconds elapsed. You just can’t. This wasn’t 13 points with a bunch of lame-ass stoppages and free throws in between. This was nine points, three triples, bang, (Karl Malone turnover) bang, (what are you doing Karl) BANG. Just like that. An eight point deficit conquered by the sweet-shooting mountain of beefcake known as Big Shot Rod.

Right now, if the average NBA fan knows anything about R-Rod, it’s contained in the above vid. If they know anything else, it’s that he’s now paralyzed from the neck down because of a dirt bike accident. And that’s it. There is a severe shortage of info on how he actually played the game, a paucity of highlights showing the average Rodney.

DownToBuck has arrived to rectify that, at least partially. Here are some highlights from a game in his near 6MOY-winning season with the Jason Kidd-led Suns. He hits a bunch of threes in this one, not all at once like that other time, but more spread out over the whole game. He also shows some deceptively swift moves for a dude as built as he is. Meanwhile, Vince Carter scores like 50 points. I’m sure there are highlights of that performance somewhere if you care to look.
