Is it accurate to say that the Lakers are D’Angelo Russell’s team now? That one dude who pretty much got to do whatever he wanted with the team the last couple decades is gone now. Someone needs to step up and be the leader, and that someone needs to not be Nick Young.
D’Angelo Russell falls into the “Not Nick Young” category, sure. But that’s not enough. Otherwise, the Lakers could be Thomas Robinson’s team. Obviously, that’s a stupid concept. The only team T-Rob gets is his fantasy football one. This hypothetical leader also needs to command the respect of the locker room and put up good stats (or has put up good stats in the past) and be a good role model for the rookies and not be a god-damn snitch.
I guess the Lakers aren’t D’Angelo Russell’s team. Yet. He’s disqualified because of one of those four things. We have to narrow it down, and, oh god, it turns out the leader of the Lakers on and off the court is…
Metta World Peace.
