We are getting close to Kristaps Porzingis having his own team. So very close Phil Jackson hates Carmelo Anthony, and is desperately shopping him to any team that will listen. I don’t even mind Melo, I think he and Krispy can be a good combo, but I also don’t mind Krispy having his own god-damn team all to himself where he can take all the shots and bang all the chicks.
Derrick Rose, in this scenario, decides he really doesn’t want to play basketball after all. Also in this scenario, Krispy unslumps himself the very second Melo gets traded.
It would be a rough remainder of the year for Knicks fans, as Porzingis probably can’t carry a team all by himself. Definitely can’t, actually. But that’s what tanking is all about: letting your young talent find out what they can and can’t do (in Krispy’s case, mostly can, in Ron Baker’s case, mostly can’t) while the losses pile up. That’s what the Timberwolves are doing, and it’s making for fun basketball. Basketball in New York can be fun like that, I just know it.
