Nik “Sucksass” Stauskas looked like a vastly improved player through the first month of the season. He was shooting 50% from the field, 45% from three, and it seemed like he might actually live up to the potential that caused the Kings (LoL) to draft him eighth overall (double LoL with extra lmao) back in 2014. Then the month of December happened, and the sad truth was revealed to all: Stauskas’ improved shooting was simply a fluke. He shot under 30% from three in December, something that a good three-point shooter should never do.
Stauskas picked it up a little bit in January but didn’t make significant enough improvement for people to stop calling him a bust. In fact, you could call him “Nik Bustkas” and it would be a humorous yet incisive and topical nickname. Unfortunately, I don’t get to call him that because I already came up with my own humorous yet incisive and topical nickname for him, and there’s not room in my nickname repertoire for more than one Stauskas nickname.
For now I’m going to peg Stauskas’ ceiling as a poor man’s Wayne Ellington and leave it at that.
