Ricky Rubio 22 Points/6 Threes/8 Assists Full Highlights (1/30/2017)

Prior to tonight’s games, there had been 114 instances of a player hitting six or more threes. All the expected names are there, and there aren’t any really unexpected names there barring Rashad Vaughn. Depending on your opinion of Vaughn (which really shouldn’t be very high, unless you’re me, dammit Kidd give him more minutes), that makes this performance by Rubio the most unexpected three-point bonanza of the season.

You know it’s bad when the Minnesota commentator says something about his first three having more arc on it, when it is still as flat as ever. Rubio ended up making a bunch of them, each as flat as the last, and that’s just how it’s going to be. That’s the shot he shoots, its evident from his free-throws and his pull-ups and his threes: line drive knuckleballs slapping the back of the rim before dropping through. There have been players who have made that work; it’s not like Korver shoots rainmakers that scrape the ceiling.

The threes are really the main attraction here. Some of these “assists” are wack as heck. Most of them, even. I really should upload a special collector’s edition of this vid that only has the triples.
