Man, looking over this video, it doesn’t even feel like Marcus Morris scores 36 (which is almost 40) points. See for yourself. It feels like 28 or some other good-but-not-great performance when you actually watch the vid. What’s the deal?
One problem: he doesn’t have a stretch of the game where he takes over and makes shot after shot after shot. This was a full-game effort, with him scoring consistently whenever he was on the court. You know who else did that? Wilt. Wilt when he scored 100, I bet it seemed like 50 to the drunken beggars occupying the shack in rural Pennsylvania where that game was played. Because of how consistent Wilt was.
Yeah, I just compared Marcus Morris scoring 36 to Wilt scoring 100. You’re gonna have to deal with it, because I think it’s a totally valid comparison, made valid-er when you consider the respective talent levels of these two players. Speaking of which, how bad would Morris dominate the 50’s? Those 5’4″ white boys wouldn’t have had a chance. I bet he’d have averaged 40.
