This is Derrick Favor’s best scoring game of the season. That injury must have really screwed him up, because he averaged 16 the last two years, and now double figures is a good game for him.
Combine his general ineffectiveness with the Jazz’s surprisingly good record, and Favors has become the forgotten man in Utah. They don’t need him. He’s useful if he’s healthy, but they don’t need him. And here, when I was getting so hyped for him. I thought he’d be an All-Star this year. Optimistic, yeah, but he was looking good. Just had to up his scoring and rebounding a little bit, then he’s almost a 20-10 guy, that’s an All-Star in my eyes.
Oh well. Not every player can just get better indefinitely, and injuries are a real part of the NBA landscape that derail many careers. I wouldn’t call D-Faves’ career “derailed” yet, he can definitely still return to form, maybe if he gets traded back to the Nets? I like that idea. I bet they’d love to have him back, he can be like Anthony Bennett 5.0.
