Surgeon General’s Warning: this video only has one dunk in it, and it’s a really soft one where Adams doesn’t even grab the rim. He just puts the ball over the ring and drops it through. If we don’t count that one (and it really shouldn’t count since his hand never touched the rim), Steven Adams had zero dunks in this game.
Instead of dunks, we get a lot of tips, some hook shots, and some layups. Things that a soft player would do. Dunks are for HARD players. Converting field goals in any other manner than dunking means you’re softer than Pau Gasol wearing a coat made out of bunny fur. With this game, Adams has officially entered my personal list of “softest NBA centers”, which includes the aforementioned Gasol, as well as Andrea Bargnani and Justin Hamilton.
I thought Kiwis were supposed to be tough? There’s nothing tough about crashing through competing bodies to tip rebounds back in. There’s definitely nothing tough about setting screens or finishing through contact. The only tough thing in this world is dunking basketballs, and Adams let down his whole country of tough people by not being tough enough in this game. Disgusting.
