The All-Star break is upon us at last. No Bobby Portis involved, as far as I can tell, but that’s okay. He probably didn’t deserve that replacement spot over Carmelo Anthony, and he probably would have been a Darrell Armstrong-level in the dunk contest. So it’s all good. Bobby Bitches can take a week off and think about why Fred Hoiberg hates him so much, and I can take a week off and not watch any basketball except for the three-point contest, just like in years past.
National TV audiences are going to have a way over-inflated sense of how good Portis is after this season-high 19-point game by him. Either that, or they’re going to have an accurate sense of how good he is and Bulls fans who watched every game are going to have a way under-inflated sense of how good he is. It’s hard to tell. He’s had two good games almost in a row, which must mean something. Or does it? Perhaps it means nothing, just more random noise in a random and noisy NBA season.
