It would be easy in this situation to regurgitate some mindless platitude such as “this is what happens when a coach shows confidence in his player” or “all he needed was a chance to prove himself”, but in this case I don’t think those platitudes really apply. At all. Mario Hezonja has gotten multiple chance to prove himself this season, especially in the past month, and usually all he does is miss a bunch of shots and commit more turnovers then he gets assists. We all wish Hezonja was better but he just isn’t right now.
This video wouldn’t exist except I didn’t get to make a Nikola Jokic video last night so I’m craving the views from the former Yugoslavia. Croatia can’t be counted on like Serbia can, but they can still get hyped for their countrymen when it comes down to it. And, you know, Hezonja has only scored in double-digits five times this season so this scoring performance is roughly equivalent to Stephen Curry scoring forty or Mike Tobey scoring one. You would definitely watch either of those videos so you might as well watch this one even if you aren’t Croatian.
