Moe Harkless is having the best season of his career, statistically. He’s scoring at a higher rate and at higher percentages than he ever has before, and while the Blazers aren’t having as much team success as one would hope, I’m sure Lillard and McCollum appreciate having a guy on their team who isn’t utterly useless when it comes to scoring the ball.
The crazy thing about Harkless is that he’s only 23 years old! Since he was just nineteen in his rookie year, he has five seasons under his belt while still being the same age as Buddy Hield. Maybe other people don’t get surprised by these things but it definitely caught me off guard. I was working with the idea that Harkless was 25 or 26.
Since Harkless is so young, you know what that means: his prime is still several years away! Who knows how good he is then if he keeps improving? Maybe he’ll be a legit 14/6 guy with good defense! And Hennigan gave up on this guy for a second-round pick! Or he’ll just keep averaging 9/5 for the rest of his life, but still, just a second-round pick!
